over the hills with a wind advisory in the mountains. any prospects of rain coming up. thank you, lisa. justify one day after a fatal shooting at lax, a scare for passengers at sfo. police board a plane and escort a man off a jet blue flight. nick smith has this story that you will only see on abc7 news. >> if a plane is going to go down, this plane is going to be destroyed. >> that's what one passenger told us he heard a man overhear him scream during a jet blue flight 1136. >> he said is so cloud and buoyant, that he caught my attention. >> he spoke with the passenger, alex alexander, who caught part of the scary and confusing moments on my smartphone. >> my hands was shaky, my heart was racing. >> the flight was in route to sfo from long beach. patrick said as soon as the

flight crew became aware of the flight, they called airport security who had police meet the plane when it landed. take a look. officers board the plane and immediately identify and escort the passenger off the plane. >> why are you taking the guy off the plane and maybe the threat is still on the plane. and the rest of the passengers had to stay on board. >> the flight was delayed for about 45 minutes. officials have not identified the passengers and there have been no reports of injuries. at sfo, nick smith, abc7 news. now to the latest in shoot he at lax, herardo gerardo herns the first tsa to agent to be kid in their history. he's survived by his wife, son and daughter. this morning we are learning more about the suspect, 23-year-old unemployed mechanic

paul ciancia. federal prosecutors have already filed murder charges and he could face the death penalty. police also believe someone dropped him off at the airport on friday. they want to find out who that was. hears abc7 news reporter alec stone with the latest. >> several prosecutors have filed murder charges against the suspected gunmen in the deadly shooting at los angeles international airport of tsa officer gerardo hernandez and the wounding of several others. saturday night heights lit up over the airport in honor of him. his wife is distraught. >> i am truly devastated. we are all heartbroken and we will miss him dearly. >> our hearts go out to the tsa officer who was shot and killed. >> two more tsa officers were wound when had 23-year-old paul ciancia took a rifle out of his

bag friday morning and started firing. this shows the ensuing mayhem. the fbi is just one of the agencies investigating the shooting. >> we found a statement where he made a conscious decision to make multiple tsa employees. >> and it could have been so much worse if officers had not chased the gun men through the airport terminal three. >> the fact they disabled the assailant within minutes was actually remarkable and saved untolleds lives. >> he remains in the hospital and the hospital says he remains unresponsive. the airport returned to normal operation saturday afternoon. alex stone, abc news, los angeles. >> one of the people cause in the crossfire was torrey bellacci. he's a host of the tv show myth

busters. here's what he is saying. >> everybody is flying down the corridor, jumping over chairs, jumping over people. people were taking cover. it was literally like my worst nightmare and it was happening. >> "myth busters" is shot in the bay area, although he was headed from lax to a video shoot in delaware. the shooting has caused dozens of cancellations and delays in the bay area. even though it occurred on friday, there's been a ripple effect. yesterday eight flights to and from lax were cancelled. flights could be affected again today so be sure to check with your airline. >> all lanes in richmond 580 are open this morning following a fatal crash. a pedestrian was struck and killed just before 10:00 last night as he tried to run across the interstate near harbor way. the chp investigated.

the roads were opened just about 1:00 this morning. no word yet on the identity of the word who was killed. the incident remains under investigation. the chp is investigating the cause of a fatal crash near stinson beach yesterday. one person was killed after a car went off a cliff on highway 1 just before 4:30 p.m.. that car, a red hop -- honda, had been reported stolen out of vallejo. the driver was the only one in the car. friends and family of a teenager who was shot and killed by a sheriffs deputy gathered to thank the community for their support. andy lopez was killed when he was holding a toy rifle that looked like a real assault rifle. >> candles were aranked and a cross adjusted for the growing

1-year-old andy lopez, it was not marked on a few people here that this day marks the day of the dead. >> every 1st and 2nd of november you come and celebrate the dead, or the loved ones of that passed away. >> andy lopez' parents were here a few hours. they left just of a sunset. they did no the want to speak on camera but they said they will have an announcement on monday. they will join their team of attorneys to announce a federal lawsuit against the sonoma county sheriff's department. organizers say they had no connection of connecting the 13-year-old death to the day, they just wanted to support the family. >> everyone wants to be here remembering andy. that's all it is. we don't want it talk with what happened to andy or anything like that. we just want to remember him. >> a lopez family attorney said the 13-year-old has not been laid to rest because his parents

have been waiting for his grandmother to arrive from mexico. she arrived in california just in time to join them for the neighborhood event. in santa rosa, abc7 news. police are searching for a gunman who robbed customers at a san francisco hair salon yesterday. it happened just before noon at the pampered girl salon on gulf street in hails valley. three customers were getting their hair and nails done when they busted inside taking money, smartphones and tablets. they say robberies are rare in that neighborhood. san jose police are searching for a mentally handicapped man who has been missing since friday. 54-year-old man was last seen around 3:30 on vine street. authorities say conseco has a previous head injury that left him with diminished mental capacity. he walks a limp, he has a cane. he's described at 5'8", 140 pounds with black air and a

beard. he was last seen wearing a black jacket, white t-shirt, black pants and flip-flops. in almeda county, sixteen agers have been rescued before getting lost hiking on mission people regional preserve. they say they got to the top of the peak and lost the trail heading back. >> we got on the wrong route so then we tried backtracking, but then it started getting dark and we lost the trail and we ended up in the field so we called the cops and here we are. >> the east bay regional park police got a 911 call relayed from the fremont police. the teenagers say they were more scared than cold. it was cold out there. >> a little wind in the upper levels of the atmosphere were keeping things well-mixed and keeping things a lot cooler wishes is probably will monday and tuesday once the cooler air settled n but we have a clear sky, temperatures mainly in the 40s and 50s right now. still a wind advisory in the north bay hills.

the samford police department will outline the changes tuesday during a community meeting. revisions include restricting volunteers from carrying firearms, and from pursuing suspects. as you know, zimmerman was acquitted of a second degree murder charge back in july. the cal palace in daly city is expected to be packed again today with people attending one of the country's biggest gun shows. it's sponsored by the crossroads of the west. organizers say they do everything by the book and gun owners appreciate it. >> they won't even let me get a 30 round for my a. r. or nothing. and it's not even 30 rounds, it's ten rounds. everything is legal in there, so why not? >> we have a huge population of shooters out here and we need a venue to go in and buy the things we need to buy and i don't see any reason why we can't do it here on state property. >> this week's show is the first since governor jerry brown vetoed a bill that would have

banned all gun shows at that venue. scientists are fighting an effort to speed up logging laws in u.s. forests burned by wildfire. that includes yosemite national forest where the rim fire burned 400 square miles. republican lawmakers have sponsored legislation that would set aside u.s. environmental laws to boost logging in burned out for efforts. more than 200 biologists, ecologists, and others signed a bill o'reilly posing the bill. they say salvaging a forest after a fire is one of the worst things you can do for the habitat. firefighters controlled a grass fire in san francisco yesterday, despite really difficult conditions. it began just before 10:00 in the morning near laguna hospital. firefighters had to work through fog and steep terrain to access it. they put it out give any buildings were damaged. a big change ahead if you are one of those who like to

devices to be shut off. in san jose, david loui, abc7 news. on tuesday the san jose city council is expected to take up a firearms ordinance to help deal with a wild pig problem. the feral pigs have done thousands of dollars of damage to the country club they are tearing up neighbors' lawns. san jose does not allow guns to be fired within city limits except for police or in firing ranges. this ordinance would include pig trappers and that would allow them to kill the animals within the city. election day is still two days away but voters in san francisco can swing by city hall to drop off their vote-by-mail ballots. curbside dropoff stations are available outside every entrance to city hall. they will be open today from 10:00 in the morning until 4:00 p.m. and tomorrow from 8:00 to 5:00 and tuesday from 7:00 to

8:00. a second bart labor union has ratified the contract agreement that brought an end to a second strike this year. yesterday a. t. u. said its members approved the contract seiu approved the contract friday. it includes a 4% raise, safer working condition and it requires bart workers to pay into their pensions and increases healthcare costs. bart's board of directors will vote on the contract later this month. this morning portions of highway 101 in novato will be closed until 9:00. it is not a solid closer. the chp is closing sections of 101 between some boulevards 15-minute intervals. if allows them to install new power lines. estimated today an estimated 4,000 runners will hit the streets of san francisco for the

u.s. half-marathon. this is a live look at the golden gate bridge. to accommodate runners the bridge's east sidewalk will be closed from 5:00 until 9:00 this morning. the west sidewalk will be closed from 6:00 to 9:30. the race gets underway at 7:00 at the muni pier waterfront at vanice avenue and beach street. what will the weather be leak for the runners? >> certainly cooler. we had a passing cold front yesterday ask chilly air will move in on top of northwest winds. as we look at the satellite hd, it is nice and clear. some of that is due to the winds in the higher elevations, scouring out the atmosphere. you may not have felt much but there is still a wind advisory in effect for the mountains of the north bay. we will keep that in mind and keep you posted. right now the winds gusting to about 25 miles an hour in spots. so here's a view from mt. tam

where it is nice and clear. temperatures have dropped early this morning. but with things continuing to mix, we will be looking for temperatures painly in the 40s and 50s. 46 in los gatos, 50 half moon bay and it is clear from sutro right now. you can see it looks pretty nice out there. we will enjoy a lot of sunshine early on. then increasing clouds throughout the day for a partly cloudy afternoon. 52 fairfield. 42 right now in concord with 48 in santa rosa. and napa has bumped up to 43 degrees. so our forecast highlights for the rest of the day, we still have that wind advisory in the north bay just for the next couple hours. the winds gusting from 25 to 30 miles an hour. that's above about 1200 feet. then we will look for a cooler and breezier day today, compliments of the northwest winds. that sun officially up at 6:38 and setting at 5:09. so you will definitely notice

the difference. we will be looking at some changes in the week ahead. but unfortunately we were hoping for some rain. looks like that has been eliminated for the upcoming work week. so some of the higher elevations you can see the gusts over 50 miles an hour, up to 23 miles an hour here. and even down in the south bay we have some gusts over 25 miles an hour. so as you take a look at the water vapor imagery, the weak system pushing through. in the heels of that, the northwest winds 10 to 20 miles an hour. on the peninsula you will feel that. also if you are at the coast, some very cool conditions. here's a look at the day hour by hour. you will notice as we go through about noontime, getting some clouds around here. 5:00 in the afternoon we will call it mostly cloudy with the cool afternoon. highs just in the 50s and 60s. so 70s out of the forecast today. in fact, it's going to stay that way for the next 48 hours before we begin to warm up throughout the middle of the week. 67 the high today in san jose with 64 in sunnyvale.

elevations. you will notice wind gusts over 20 miles an hour, atlas peek. and gusts to 27 miles an hour. a cold front has pushed through the bay area and the skies are clear now. we will see a few extra clouds throughout the day today. temperatures in the 50s and 60s. they will be held down. we are looking at breezy northwest winds. so cooler afternoon for everyone, but we will look at a midweek warmup and i'll have that for you in a few minutes. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. happening now, the new york city marathon is underway. more than 47,000 participants are flooding the city streets today for the 43rd running of the marathon. what you are seeing right now are the female para athletes getting prepared to take off. the males already went on their way with these newfangled devices there. other runners will be taking off just in a short bit. that event was cancelled at the last minute last year due to super storm sandy.

some believe lowering an athletes body immediately after exercise can speed up recover and lessen the pain associated with exercise. but the biology is complicated and there's debate over how different methods of cooling actually effect the body. this therapist has worked with the chamber and said he's seen results. >> we really want to get all that inflammatory processing going and get it moving along and getting it out w the cold it really is it that. >> others are more cautious. he helped develop a twice that drains heats from the palms of athletes hands called core control. it is now commercialized. ice paths can accomplish the same benefits but he's skeptical of the short time used in the sauna. >> just a few minutes in very cold air or gas is not going to do much to lower your body temperature.

the south bay gusts to 27 miles an hour. mt. tam was up to 18 miles an hour. atlas peak 22 miles an hour winds each eventually these winds allowing for the cooler air to be transported across much of the state. so the brief little trough is pushed on through ask northwest winds throughout the afternoon. we will keep the numbers below average today and tomorrow. we are talking just 50s and 60s. so the first half of the day will be clear. then you will notice by the afternoon a few clouds entering the picture. with northwest winds it will be cool, especially over the hills where the winds will maintain probably a 15 to 25 miles an hour breeze. so get ready for that and also the chillier temperatures in the mountains. which we could add some snowpack to this. right now waking up to about 30-degree temperature in the sierra nevada with 49 later on today in lake tahoe. and fresno 70 degrees. cool down there as well.
